A-Litter

Glenfell Eurasiers "A-Litter" - Pac-Man Theme

Victra was bred at the beginning of March. If all goes according to plan, puppies will arrive at the end of April and ready to go home between June 26 - July 7.

For this litter, Victra was bred to GCh Daodejing Odaiko Juusun "Taiko", the top-winning Eurasier in Canadian history.

We evaluated every available male stud in Canada and the USA and concluded that Taiko was most complementary to Victra, from temperament, physical, and genetic perspectives.

Temperament

Taiko's owner describes him as being "very people-oriented and confident. He likes to be the centre of attention without being overwhelming. He is a chill, happy-go-lucky dog. Like most Eurasiers, he can sometimes be a little mischievous and stubborn.  He is not a picky eater and is easily motivated by food and some toys. Taiko is the natural leader of our small pack and though the two girls like to pester him, they also show him respect." Taiko and Victra both have wonderful temperaments; this factor is the number one priority in any of our pairings.

Physical

Victra is on the smaller end of the breed standard with finer bones and Taiko is on the larger end, with substantial bone. It is our hope that the puppies will be in the mid-range of the breed standard, at about 50-60 lbs. They will likely not be taller than about 52cm/20.5" at the shoulders. Taiko has a beautiful front and his rear is an improvement on Victra's, as he has better angulation. From a proportion perspective, Taiko is a little on the shorter side, with shorter legs, while Victra is leggier - again, we are hoping that these characteristics will be balanced out in their offspring. Keep in mind, that breeding is an art, not a science, and there are no guarantees how these puppies will turn out! All we can do is do our research, and make the best decision based on the information we have available.

Health

Taiko's pedigree has been combed back through five generations. We've looked at his ancestors' health history, longevity, and cause of death to ensure there were no concerning issues, and compared it with Victra's, again, to ensure that there are no recurring trends between both lines. Both dogs have had Embark reports done (click here to view Taiko's report), and the puppies in this litter will all be varying shades of red and cream (cream is just a diluted red, from a genetic perspective).

Taiko's owner chose not to publish his health reports publicly through the OFA, however, all his health reports have been verified - copies of them will be provided to the new puppy owners and are available upon request in the interim.
